Austin needed to have his 2 month shots and I knew I had been a bit neglectful on the the other kids shots this past year so I decided that it would be easier to just get them all in and get it over with. So I loaded them up and had Nanna Becky come too. That was the only smart thing I did. We got there and as much as I hate to let the kids play on or with any toys at the Dr. office they had already done so by the time I got through the door with the car seat, the blanket and the diaper bag. So what the heck "it's too late now"
So we waited a bit and then the nurse called us back. We walked through the door to see the scale looming before us. Funny how your perspective changes when you look at it from a 3 yr old's eyes. Lincoln would not get on that scale for anything. The nurse tried to convince him to. I tried, Becky tried. Nope, it was not going to happen. So then I showed him how it was done.(yes I made sure not to let it show my true weight) No way was he going to stand on that thing. So we tried to get Sari to do it. Nope. "if Lincoln won't then I won't" Finally we got a somewhat accurate weight on both and then tried to do a height check. That niffty little thing that just flips out on the scale and measures them was a good idea but only if you stand on the scale and I already said how that went. After Lincoln escaped twice into the waiting room and Sari ran into the nurse station 3 times I said I'd just call them if they really needed it. We finally got a good guess for height and gave up and went to the little room. Yes I do mean little. Especially after you get Me, Becky, the Nurse and Austin and his car seat, a 3 yr old and a 2 yr old into it there really isn't much room for the Doctor let alone all the little red, plastic kid chairs they had in there.
Somehow we got a few questions answered and Austin's height by laying him down on the bed and drawing a mark at his head and one at his feet (why didn't we do that with the other 2?!!) The little light in the kids noses wasn't so bad but the scary cold thing on their belly's wasn't much fun. After a temperature in the ears I was really worried for the shots. I began to think I might need one to keep me from running out to the waiting room.
Lincoln was all caught up on his shots and being difficult (can you blame him?)and so he got sent to the car with Nanna Becky. She came back in to get the keys and by then Sari was done with her shots but just getting started on the wailing and tears. I felt so bad handing her off to Becky to comfort but I wanted to hold Austin too. We finally got it all done and the kids home where I could hold them and comfort their pain with hugs, kisses and Tylenol . I am so grateful for modern medicine that helps prevent such terrible illnesses like polio and chicken pox and all the others that we are vaccinating for. Next time though I am taking the kids in one at a time one day at a time.

Hehehe! This provided a great mental image! It kind of reminded me of mom's story with taking Wylie to the dentist for the first time....only I think everyone in your story faired better than those in the dentist office!
