Pleasures of having a house in the country!

Boy lately I wonder if it worth having a your own house. At least this one. About a month and a half ago we kept noticing the water pump shutting off an on all the time. the pressure would go way up and then i'd have to go down stairs and tap on the pressure gauge to get it tho go down. well i left for town one day and the pressure got really high and it blew the pipes in our shower in our bedroom. So after tearing out the shower and looking for a plumber/electrician/ tile/ handyman(I know...) we decided to do it ourselves. But oh yeah, Aaron works till 7 or 8 every night and neither of us want to do anything when we get home but sit and relax even though we usually end up refereeing the kids and giving pony rides. So for the last month and a half Aaron has been showering in the RV and me and the kids take baths.

So far this is all we have done.

Well, that wasn't so bad compared to what came next. We started to have problems with drains plugging up. So we tramped downstairs to find the plumbing leaking in the basment. So we put a garbage can under the leak and called a sewage pumper to come out. Well they never came. Of course it happens on a Friday and over Labor Day weekend too! So Aaron and some of our farm guys get the shovels out and try to fing the septic tank. After digging two holes with shovels and still no luck Aaron got the back hoe out.

We have two septic tanks and could only find one. So after 3 holes with the back hoe we finally found it. I told Aaron if he wanted to keep digging holes maybe we should just put in a swimming pool. we were already half way there! As you can see from the pics we onl;y have 1/2 a yard and lots of great dirt piles to play in if you don't mind the slippery slide sess pool (not sure how to spell that). Well we thought we had the septic tank thing some what stabilized till tuesday but on Saturday Becky went in the house to check on the kids and found "water" all over the bathroom and the basement full as well. So we spent all day Saturday cleaning up Sewer water and I'd go into more detail but I want visitors some day. We used so much bleach and lysol and whatever other strong cleaner we could find to clean up the mess. I'm so glad we have an industrial steam cleaner!! We had the house so full of chemicals and other smells, not to mention it was wet everywhere so we spent the night camped out in the RV in the driveway. I thought the RV was for camping, not living but that what we've been using it for lately.

Now that we have it all cleaned up (probably the cleanest this basment has ever, ever been) we should be able to put in the new septic system soon and we are so tired of this stuff happening that we are going to put in all new plumbing downstairs and even get it ready for a bathroom downstairs. I can't wait to have the huge mounds of dirt smoothed out in the back yard and the holes filled in so my kids don't fall in to who knows what.

so to all you that live in town and use the city sewr system be glad. Cause this hasn't been fun al all. Cleaning up poopy diapers is one thing but this was awul. Hopefully I can post some pics of a beautifuly groomed lawn and a new bathroom and shower someday soon. I know, I know.... I keep dreaming!
